This tastes basically the same as the Perfect Mix. I guess they increased the salt and added kelp extract, but it doesn't taste all that different to me. Like the Perfect Mix, I like getting a healthy and good-tasting snack in a convenient form factor. But it's only slightly better than ordinary canned beans: a little firmer and more flavorful. It's not amazingly delicious or unique, so I find it hard to justify paying this price.Stale .. some broken pieces … hard … STALESTEAMED BEAN SNACK -UMAMI Salt USDA Certified Healthy Vegan Snacks Ready to Eat... arrived fresh and the taste was great. I liked the smaller beans, but some of the larger ones had a bit of a squeaky crunch that was reminiscent of biting into a gritty cheese curd. I did love the flavor, though, and the wholesome ingredients. I consider them a good value for a nutritious snack, I just wish they had a variety that was smaller beans only. Fresh and healthy....This is a box of single-serve packs of mixed ready-to-eat beans. The ingredients are: water, chickpeas, soybeans, green peas, kidney beans, black beans, salt, rice vinegar, kelp extract. The label says that 1 serving is 2 oz, and that a single pack contains 1 serving. One serving provides 110 calories, 2.5 g of fat, 310 mg of sodium, 16 g of carbs, and 7 g of protein. The product was made in Japan.I find these beans incredible convenient for adding a protein boost, either as a snack or to a prepared lunch. They are basically like a mixed bean salad, all cooked and ready to eat out of the package. The flavor is decent and goes well with pasta or a salad. However, beware of gas. I find that I get incredibly painful gas attacks about 2 hours after eating these beans, maybe because the soybeans are so hard to digest, and the packs contain lots of soybeans. The gas lasts for nearly 24 hours, so this is not a product I will eat every day, at least, not without a lot of Beano. Overall, this is a healthy snack, but be prepared for quite a bit of gas if you are not used to eating lots of whole unfermented soybeans.As a kid, we've had red bean in desserts, it was typical cooked, bit mushy and served in desserts. I like the taste of those childhood desserts but do not like the mushiness.I admit I didn't expect much from this product thinking it's the same. Surprisingly, it isn't. This one is cooked just right, not mushy and dry to touch so it's easy to eat on the go. Just pour some out in your palm or pop em straight in your mouth.I also like how it is only lightly sweetened. It works standalone but can also be great as a topping for ice cream or even as filling in breakfast rolls.I wasn't sure I was going to like steamed beans from a bag, but I was happily surprised. Texture is good, flavor is great and it's a good healthy option for snacking.These steamed bean packs are exactly that. They look, feel, and taste like beans that have been gently steamed to soften them and lightly sprinkled with salt. If you enjoy edamame you'll probably enjoy this snack. The little bags travel well.All in all... healthy and tasty.I added it in to my pancake batter or steamed bun or bread. Sometimes I just eat it directly. I love that I don’t need to cook beans or wash pots.
