Must had sugar. And mix in bowl , not bag. There is still clumps of it. And less water. Half less.Steam, even while in the bag to keep the correct shape.I'm Asian, and I grew up with sticky rice flour in a lot of Asian recipes. So I am very picky.I bought it twice, due to I put the amount of water it said, and it was so wateryI bought another, to add less water, clumpy, saying to mix in bag.The taste was not good, needed sugar, I took a bite and spit it out,And I have bought this already made at hmart before. It did not taste like this bag at allI bought it because I remember buying it at an hmart in California. This is not the SameI will just buy the power for the outter layer, and homemake the rice cakeThis is a very interesting and fun product. If you like to try new things this is a great way to get a taste of something different. I've been to South Korea and have had many rice cakes that were expertly made by the folks that we visited there. My attempt, using this kit, was less successful, but fun and delicious none-the-less. The failure was mostly that I couldn't get the texture right, from what I remembered. The instructions were easy enough to follow, even though they were only in diagrams. The packages were clearly marked to show how much water to add. Kneading the rice dough is very fun and kind of relaxing. This is great fun to try. I recommend it.Besides the fact it didn’t come with the zipper bag which made it inconvenient to make the rice cake as intended because using the regular zipper bag kind of didn’t work as well as the one that comes with (I know this because I also ordered 3 serving size one , and it worked really well). I posted the photos of one with the plastic bag that comes with (3 serving size) and the other with a regular zipper bag (for 1 serving size). You can see the one with the supposed plastic bag works really well without sticking to the bag, while the dough stuck to the zipper bag even with additional oil I added for 1 serving size. Now, as a person who loves Korean rice cake, injeolmi, I was literally shocked to find out how fast I could make the rice cake, and more importantly tasted so good just like the one you get from the store!Just follow the instructions closely and you will like it !Injeolmi rice cake is great for someone that doesn’t want something too sweet, as it is supposed to taste nutty with a bit of subtle bitterness, not sweet. I also added crushed nuts (if you want to add some sweetness, use the sweetened nuts to the powder)! If you don’t finish all the rice cakes all at once, try this. First, freeze the leftovers, then when you want to eat, pan grill on a frying fan and eat it with honey !It’s not cheap but I think I will keep at least a couple of them in my pantry for times when I cannot get the rice cakes from the store right away. The convenience of making rice cakes within 10 mins makes it totally worth the price for me!I LOVE trying new foods from other cultures, so when I saw this, I jumped on it. I was expecting 3 sets of ingredients, based on the (3 Servings) in the product tag line. Nope. You get enough product to prepare one batch of dough. That's fine. Just not expected. They really do make this pretty easy. Most of the product info is in Korean, but the little English provided is more than adequate. You get a zip-top bag, a single plastic glove, a packet of sesame oil, the "flour" portion of the dough, and a some-what confusing pink packet that looks like it could be a drink mix. More on that later. Anyway, you put the oil in the bag and fill with water to the line clearly drawn on the side. Then, dump in your flour, closer her up, and knead. Everything comes together quite neatly in the bag. Here's where things fell of the rails a bit for me. The dough looked perfect in the bag - not too dry, not too sticky. Appearances can be deceiving. Once I tried to perforate that outer "skin" on the dough (which seemed completely homogenous in the bag, dontcha know), it was one of the stickiest things I've encountered in some time. Hindsight? I would have rolled it out into a cylinder at snipped it, a la gnocchi. Best I could manage were doughy blobs. Now onto the pink packet that looks like drink mix. There was no real direction there, only "serve with bean curd" or some such statement. If you look at the front, you can tell the cakes have been seasoned with something. Sure enough, the powder must be the bean curd. Not drink mix. Now you know. What surprised me was....I guess I was expecting to fry them vs eating them "raw." I do kind of wish there had been more than one set of packets, as I would really like to try it. I think the soft inside texture would go really well with a teensy bit of crunch on the outside. But the flavor of these is very nice, particularly if you're a fan of sesame oil. This can be an interesting afternoon project for kids. You don't need to cook. All you need are in the bag. You follow the instructions to add water and ingredients to the bag. Keep massage it. And it is done! The rice cake taste is quite authentic. You need to pay extra attention when it is almost done to have a good looking shape. I can see that this will be an interesting addition to tea party.
