I like that most of the items in the box were gluten-free. You have to read the labels. It's kind of fun to get a box of things to try out, which makes this giftable if you're looking for a thoughtful box to send to someone.The Nacho Plant Crisps were a big no for me. Vegan pork rinds weren't my fave either. I don't like the regular ones, so maybe that's my problem.Other than that, I really enjoyed at least half of the items and even added them to my wishlist for purchasing on the website where I buy health foods. However, half isn't a great rate because that's a very expensive snack box. Thus the 3-star rating. If it had been a real win on more of the items, I'd rate it 5.I'd be interested in looking a non-vegan options from this company. Maybe a gluten-free box!This was a hit with the kiddo. Some of the snacks were a little adult for kids, but that's ok I ate them happily. Good mix of salty/savory and sweet. This is of course not as good of a deal as buying the individual snacks directly, but to get a fun assortment this is a good way to go.This box came with 10 different snack items. So I will write individual reviews below. By the way, every product is vegan.1. Snacklins plant crisps Nacho - 5/10. These do have that cheesy nacho flavor and the texture of a pork rind but... the nacho flavor is over powered by salt2. Ka-Pop Super grain cheese puffs - 7/10. The cheesy flavor is there but the texture of the puff is not that great. it's a little hard and difficult to chew.3. Pig out Pigless Texas bbq Pork rinds - 6/10. The texas bbq flavor is great but it is made with pea protein and the pea flavor definitely shows and over powers it.4. Spuds Sweet Potato Puffs : Vegan Sour Cream and onion - 10/10. These are the best ones out of chips in this. They taste just as good as other Sour Cream and Onion chips out there on the market.5. Project 7 Low Sugar Sour Fruit Gummies - 10/10. these are really really good. There's only 60 calories in the pack. They are made with a blend of cane sugar and Stevia. To me, they do not have the bitter aftertaste Stevia is known to have.6. Munk Pack Protein Cookie : Coconut white chocolate macadamia - 7/10. I'm not a big fan of coconut flavored things but this wasn't that bad. It sort of tastes like an Almond Joy (with macadamias instead)7. Park Kodiak City Crunchy Granola Bar : Maple brown sugar - 6/10. The flavor is great but it is extremely dry and difficult to eat without a beverage.8. Symmetree Bar : White Chocolate raspberry - 2/10. It doesn't taste anything like White Chocolate Raspberry. It does have a pleasant creamy texture. but coconut is one of the ingredients and the coconut taste over powers everything else in it.9. Made Good Granola Bar : Chocolate Banana - 10/10. great flavor. has extracts from vegetables. Can't taste the veggies.10. Nature's bakery bar : Oatmeal crumble apple - 2/10. Date paste is an ingredient. I taste dates more than anything else. I do not taste apple at all.Overall, the snacks aren't bad but there are some that just didn't taste anything like they're supposed to.Lemme be honest here. I see some other reviewers calling these "delicious," and that makes me question what they normally eat for snacks.Granted, this Peaceful Squirrel variety sampler box is not "bad," per se, but let's just say you really need to use your imagination to make the flavors fit what is labeled, and I wouldn't go anywhere near as far as calling this "delicious."I'll start with the best:Oatmeal crumble apple bar: This was definitely my favorite. It was sufficiently sweet and the mixture of oatmeal and apple was quite tasty.Pig out pork rinds: These were a close second. They really tasted nothing like pork, but were still pretty good, had a nice texture and no bitter aftertaste.Sweet potato puffs: These were also not too bad. Bland kind of comes to mind, but if you eat enough of them, there is a latent hint of sweet potato in there. This is where I started having a problem with the texture of most of these items.As for the rest of the snacks, I sampled them all, but I couldn't finish them. Most of them had the texture of wet rice cakes. So, if rice cakes are your thing, you might like some of these snacks. The bars were also quite bland.With all of that said, however, if you need vegan snacks, these are not bad at all. You're not going to get the same level of taste and texture as you would in non-vegan treats, of course, so if you keep that in mind and lower your expectations a bit, you won't be disappointed. I had initially put down 3 stars for this, but considering they're doing all of this vegan, I had to bump it up a notch. Enjoy!This Peaceful Squirrel Sampler Snack Box incudes a mix of 10 individual portions of premium speciality snacks that are vegan, paleo, gluten free and/or dairy free. These are healthier than mainstream versions of similar snacks in most cases or at least accommodate certain dietary restrictions. We already eat mostly alternative brands and have for years due to my son’s allergies. These are generally tasty, quality products, many of which my son with multiple allergies can enjoy. He had fun trying different treats given his dietary limitations, and the sampler is a good way to try give alternatives a try.My son can’t eat many traditional snacks, so I especially like that this box has some allergy friendly snacks he enjoyed at lot such as a Made Good granola bar, KaPop! Dairy Free Cheddar Cheese Puffs, Pig Pigless Pork Rinds, Project 7 Sour Gummies and so on. The sampler does have a few snacks my son couldn’t try due to nuts, such the Symmetree Bar (cashews), Munk Pack cookie (macadamia nuts) and Kodiak granola bar (nut contamination risk). Those with really specific dietary limits may not be able to eat all the snacks, but between the two of us we enjoyed all but one of the snacks. While the sampler isn’t value oriented, it would be a fun care box to send a vegan or other student, it’s a good intro to a variety of alternative foods and so on. Like it. 4 stars.
